As an owner, driver or restorer of Mercedes-Benz you will appreciate the increasing difficulty in sourcing and obtaining transmission parts.

Greenwood Motorsport has recently carried out extensive research and development of a Mercedes 4 Speed Gear Kit, designed primarily for Mercedes 300SL Roadster, these kits are also suitable for converting the Gullwing gearbox to the more desirable and quieter Roadster gear design.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

Each kit will be manufactured in Coventry using state of the art technology and tooling by the same company that currently produces Gripper LSD components.

The material being used for the production of these gear kits is EN36 B as specified by all major car manufacturers for their gear components. Gears will be cut using a steeper helix angle which will add strength and reduce noise. Synchromesh teeth on all gears will not only be cut with a reverse taper to reduce gear drop out, these toothed cones will then be electron beam welded to the gears rather than the conventional splined method, this will again add strength and a modern technique to an old designed gearbox.

This kit has been designed to be fitted straight into your original casing with no modifications required, however parts will not be interchangeable with original parts due to the techniques used to improve the gear kits themselves.
